The "about:blank" page is not blank anymore. It appears a
lot of links and pulicity about spyware but i cannot
change my homepage!! I have used reglite and hickjackThis
but i cannot fix the problem. Please help me! this is a
very unconfortable situation. I know a lot of people with
the same problem
.
I've been bit with this, too.....I have a new Dell with
XP, and not only do I get this stupid about:blank screen
with the search that I cannot change, I get popups in
Hotmail, I cannot restore my machine to any settings prior
to this month (which are all screwed), and my printer has
been unlinked and I cannot get my Add Printer option to
work. I've tried cleaning my files and registry, but it
always comes back on boot-up (obviously, there's something
I'm missing....I'm no expert, and it seems that's what you
need for this problem. Dell suggests I wipe and reload my
machine, but according to them, I have to practically go
back to the bare metal to do it.....no format C and reload
the OS and software. Microsoft charges for support, but I
think since it's a security issue with THEIR software,
they should offer free support to fix the problem. If
this is the problem they just released a fix for last
Friday, they've apparently known about it for nine freakin
months! If anyone has a method of fixing this, I sure
would appreciate it.
