Browser goes backwards instead of forwards

I'm using IE 6.0.2800.1106C0 inside of a custom
application at my company and when I click on a button
that is supposed to take me to the next page in the
application and carry out a command the browser goes
backwards to the previous page. This is an intermittant
problem but it's annoying. IT doesn't want to hear about
it -- just thought I'd ask if anyone had seen this problem
before.
