browser fails to find url

Ever since installing XPSP2, I find that my browsers, both IE 6 and Firefox,
periodically fail to find the url- I get the message "operation timed out" or
"page not found". Repeated attempts usually succeed on the second or third
try. This occurs whether the firewall is turned off or on, and it doesn't
seem to be specific sites. Is anyone else seeing this problem, and if so, any
ideas on a fix? thanks.

You didn't tell us how you connect to the Internet - dialup or
broadband. However you do it, start by seeing if there are updated
drivers for your network device, whether it is a modem or network card.
Otherwise, post back with more details about how you connect to the
Internet, what ISP you use, if "periodically" means at a set time or
randomly, etc. Also let us know if your machine is 100% spyware and
virus-free and if you believe it is, what you did to determine this.
