I recently contracted a virus. It took over my browser and
forced my searches to go to sites it was designed to take
me to. I was able to remove the virus, but now Internet
Explorer does not work. I had to install Netscape to have
a browser.

I need Explorer for some sites I wish to use. I have tried
to uninstall and reinstall but now I just get the message
that a newer version of Explorer is on my computer and
installation can not continue. So how do I fix this?

The only sign of explorer I can find on my computer is an
icon that doesn't do anything.

Suggestions?

THanks.

Found another posting with instructions for reinstalling.
Tried them but ended up with the message saying software
could not be installed because it did not pass the logo
test. How can a microsoft product not pass its own logo test?

As for your inability to get to any pages with I.E. some of the virus/trojan
may have damaged you winsock.
See if this tool will fix it.
