Just thought I'd share my experience with this printer using Linux. Printing in Linux used to be one of the hardest obstacles to overcome, as of late, it's becoming much much easier. This was NEVER a fault of Linux, but rather a lack of support from hardware manufacturers. But I digress, back too the printer.

The Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer has proven to be a very nice printer for use with Linux. No special drivers are needed to run it (although they are available here if you want or need them : http://solutions.brother.com/Librar...files/lpr_others/brhl2040lpr-1.1.2-2.i386.rpm ~~ for suse/redhat/mandrake )

You can simply go to your printer setup (where depends on the distro your running) and choose :

Printer Man: BROTHER
Driver: HL-2400CeN

I use this particular printer at home and at work. While it's only a black and white printer, it does an excellent job. Paper, labels, and envelopes pose no issues with it.

So, if your running Linux, and want a decent printer for the money, this one is worth a look.
