broken access wizards

Hi!

Whenever I try to make a new database and click on the table wizard, the
wizard doesn't open up.

I tried renaming the extension of ACWZMAIN.MDE, ACWZTOOL.MDE and ACWZLIB.MDE
to "".OLD and then reinstalling to rewrite the registery and it still doesn't
work! I've reinstalled Office 2000, 3 times!

Any other ideas? Thanks!

Hi Patricia,
Any other ideas?

Yes. Are any of the wizards working on your PC? For example, if you go into form design, can
you use the combo box wizard? Does your PC have small business tools installed? There is a
known compatibility problem with that.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=303769

Try registering the Accwiz.dll and/or DAO360.dll file(s). Use the directions in steps 4 & 5 of
the article shown above to re-register these .DLL files. That being said, I do not recommend
ever using the table wizard! Your best bet is to get out a clean sheet of paper and use a pencil
with a good erasure. It's a lot easier to change a design on paper versus trying to implement it
on the fly.

Thanks! I have since figuired out what the problem is! and I fixed it. I
just needed to uninstall my small business tools and reinstall them. Voila my
wizards are back! I am taking courses at a local university on Access so I do
need to review them, also my add-in manager which was grayed out reappeared
after I finished the reinstall.

I did find an article in the microsoft database indicating that there was a
problem with getting at the wizards. If you click on a wizard all you get is
the busy mouse pointer and nothing opens up.

For others wanting to know how to rectify this problem consult the following
article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q242218/

Basically my wizards were in the file, they just wouldn't "start".

Cheers

You're welcome. Glad I could be of help! Thank You for letting everyone know that you found a
resolution.

Good Luck with your Access studies. I previously taught a college-level Access course for three
years.
