I've got an Acer TravelMate 2490 Notebook and a Telkom ADSL 5102G ADSL Modem
at work and at home. I can't connect wireless to the routers with Vista at
any location, but connecting to other wireless routers, hubs and hotspots are
no problem... we've check settings and drivers. Other Notebooks connect fine
at office and home (HP and Fujitsu Siemens).

If I connect with Cable everything's fine.

Can anyone help... I don't have a lot of hair and I'm now pulling the last
few!

Can you ping the router wirelessly? Or is it actually failing when
connecting to the wireless link itself (happened to me recently)? Does it
see it with good signal strength when viewing wireless networks? Is the
router set to broadcast the SSID?

Thanx for responding so fast!

It is actually failing when connecting to the wireless link... my signal
strength is at 93% and the router is set to broadcast the SSID.

We had mac address filtering on, but we even removed that now. All our acer
2482WXCi are connecting fine... the 2492WLCi's setup are exactly same, but
keep failing to connect wireless.

Have you tried manualy assigning an ip address in the laptop's network
connection properties > tcpip/ipv4 properties?

The reason I suggest this is - I allow my neighbour to share my internet
connection, but for some reason my router won't automatically assign a
ip address to his laptop's wireless adapter whereas it will to mine.
Manually assigning an ip address for his adapter solved the problem.
