Brian,

Your name is on a lot of replys in this group. Can you give any suggestions
to the following problem?

My network is set up as follows:
3 Windows 2000 servers.
1 Domain that has been changed it last 3 weeks
2 remote users that connect to the network via Cable Modem/VPN (Sonicwall)
Active Directory and DNS are installed and running on 2 of the 3 servers.
The 3rd server is just being used as a member server.

Everything works fine with the network except email.

We are using Bellsouth and Outlook 2003. Everybody in the main office
connects and sends/receives fine. When the 2 remote users are attached to
the network is where the problem is. No matter if the VPN tunnel is up or
down they can’t send email external to Bellsouth. There is another user from
my company in the same office that is able to send/receive without any
problem. I have had to change my domain in the last 3 weeks; I have done the
following:
1. Cleared the DNS cache on both my server and the local pc.
a. ipconfig /flushdns
b. ipconfig /registerdns
2. Removed and rejoined the system to the domain.
3. Pinged (both by name and IP) and got response from the mail server.
4. When configuring the client, the test email settings works fine.
5. Deleted and recreated Outlook profile.

The error that comes back is “None of your e-mail accounts could send this
requestâ€.

Everything works fine if connect directly to my network and if I take the
system to my house and connect it to my DSL (Bellsouth) circuit.

Any ideas?

That just means I like to "talk".

We are using Bellsouth and Outlook 2003. Everybody in the main office

What happens when they try?

This says Bellsouth's mail server had nothing for you to download.

to gmail.com is not allowed

This says you're not properly authenticating to your outgoing server.
You're using a non-Bellsouth address to try and send mail through
Bellsouth's mail server. Not allowed. You must either use a Bellsouth
sending address or use the Bellsouth user credentials in the outgoing server
setup.

This says that at least one of your outgoing messages was from a Bellsouth
address or to a Bellsouth address and so was accepted.

Thanks, I talked to Bellsouth and they did not have a clue. I created an
email account with the new ISP in KY and will kill the Bellsouth accounts.
For now all is working as it should be.
