Both XP Pro and Home running after upgrade. How to get rid of XP H

I have recently upgraded from XP home to XP Pro.

When I boot in, my computer gives me an option of selecting either "XP Pro"
or "Home".

1. Does this mean that I have both XP Pro and Home running /installed on my
computer? Would it cause any harm if I have both Home and Pro installed on
my computer?

2. I do not want 'XP home', and would like my computer to go straight to
'XP Pro'.
How do I get rid of XP home?
What is the best option available?

Well, it seems you upgraded improperly.

Did you (while in Windows XP Home) insert the Windows XP Professional
Upgrade/Retail CD and allow it to autorun/force it to run if you have
autorun turned off and tell it to upgrade? Or did you boot with the Windows
XP Professional CD and never tell it to upgrade the install but install on
the same partition as Windows XP Home in a different directory?

1. Don't know - you never said whether both options actually work. You can
answer your own question by simply trying both options.. Does it actually
boot into Windows XP Home when you choose Windows XP Home? Does it actually
boot into Windows XP Professional when you boot into Windows XP
Professional. It won't harm anything - just seems redundant - and unless
they share the same folders (doubtful) - then if you install on one, you
won't see the installed application on the other - etc - so that would be
worthless.

2. Simply edit your BOOT.INI to get rid of the Windows XP Home selection -
leaving only Windows XP Professional.

Search for "Windows XP and How to edit the Boot.ini":

I HAVEN'T CHECKED IT.

YES, IHAVE CHECKED. IT BOOTS INTO WIN XP PRO.

WOULD EDITING TAKE CARE OF IT, OR , SHOULD I RE-INSTALL [UPGRADE OR FRESH
-NEW INSTALL] XP PRO?

Good, that is the one you want to keep.

Well, depends on a few factors. In your case my suggestion would be to edit
the BOOT.INI and move on. Especially if you have all of your installed
applications prior to updating in Windows XP Professional as well.

You CAN do a clean install, if you think you are prepared to do something
like that - remember - if you want to keep something (email, contacts,
documents, pictures, drawings, etc..) you need to get it off the install
partition BEFORE you format and install. Have all your CD Keys and other
necessary install files in a place ready to reinstall.

Again - my suggestion for you - leave it alone and edit the Boot.ini file
appropriately.
