BootVis advice

Hello,

Can someone please tell me how can i get rid of BootVis? The problem i 'm
having with it is that when i restart my computer the system comes up quite
fast but in a state that i can't do anything. eg. the system tray shows only
the clock and maybe another icon. (Norton antivirus, firewall, msn
messenger, my soundcards app icon... are not there yet). I can open a
windows explorer and if i try to double click a song media player won't
start. It remains in that state for about a minute and everything then loads
up properly.

There is this annoying pause in the middle which i d either like to fix or
get rid of bootvis and configure the system to make a cold boot, ignoring
the .bin file in the disk.

Thanks,
George

BootVis is simply a diagnostic tool to enable users to graphically
see boot time activity. It itself would not affect the situation you
describe. Windows XP's boot time is certainly variable. Without
Startup apps/Watchdog programs, the complete boot cycle would
be around 35-45 seconds.
When the Windows desktop (GUI) first appears on your screen
the boot cycle is in no way complete. While you may be able to
click on an icon the system will not respond until all boot activity is
completed.
Startup activity varies depending on whether you have a network,
what device drivers must be started and the apps in the Startup
folder and the Run key in the Registry. Pauses like you describe
could be Network initialization (DHCP, Computer Browser,etc..).
You need to run BootVis and after reboot load the .Bin file and
look at the entire timeline to see what is running and when each
process completes.
