Bootup slow with Mapped drives

G

Gerry Peters

My bootup time was about 50-60 sec until I mapped drives for my 3 other
networked computers. It's now 2.5 min. I have a total of 17 drive letters on
all 4 computers. Is there a way to stop XP from trying to connect to these
drives on bootup?

I assume it's taking time to connect. It doesn't really need to connect
unless I select a drive letter in Window Exporer. It seems that if I unckeck
"reconnect at logon", then I'll have to start all over assinging drive
letters.

The other 3 computers are Win98 or Win98SE. Is there a way to speed this
up? XP was supposed to be a faster boot, but Win98 is for me. I have mapped
drives on all the Win98 computers, but that doesn't slow them down on bootup
