bootup problems

I am having boot-up problems. In particular, The overall boot from shutdown
state takes about 10 minutes. I am sure it's not the profile sync as my
profile is only 300MB on a GB LAN and login take only 10 seconds if just
done from a state where machine is already logged in, then i log off without
rebooting and log back in.

I did a bootvis.exe and found that it's taking about 1.5 minutes to go
through the shell exec stage and about 5 minutes to go through
Logon/Services...but no details on where the hold-up is exactly. None of
the process starts are occurring in those time frames.

Logoff takes no time at all.

Nothing consistent stands out in my event logs.

It does NOT happen when I'm disconnected from the domain (Win2k) and login
with cached domain credentials.

I have only SP1 installed, not SP2.

hi Gringo,
I'm facing to nearly the same issue onto my IT asset.
Does the hard disk work a lot during the boot process ?
Let's try to find out what are the similarities between your and my
configuration ...:
Norton, altiris, proxy client ...?

Regards
