Booting

Last night when I booted up the program asked me to choose the user
for the machine. I am the only one who uses the computer. I clicked
on administrator, since it was the only choice and it continued to
boot. This is something new since it has never happened in the 8
months since I bought the computer.
How do I get rid of that and have the computer boot without asking me
for the user?

Visit the Windows Update web site and download the available critical update
for .NET Framework. After installing it and rebooting, the Welcome Screen
will no longer appear if you do not have a password for your account.

The Welcome to Windows screen appears when you start Windows XP
after you install the .NET Framework 1.1

You can also use the following steps to enable automatic logon:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type: control userpasswords2 , and then click OK.
3. In the dialog box that appears, clear the "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer" check box, and then click OK.
