booting to xp problem

I recently put my old hard drive w/xp pro on it on a new-
better motherboard and processor. Everything is working
great- except, when I shut down, the cap lock and the
other two led's next to it on the upper right hand side
of my keyboard keep flashing the whole time the computer
is off. The first time I push the power button, my power
led and the hard drive led on my computer go on, the
led's on my optical drives go on, but blank monitor. I
manually turn it off, manually turn it on and the second
time it boots to windows- this is weird. Got any ideas?
