Booting a PC from a mobile drive rack

I do not know if this is the place for a question I have, but here goes. I
have two identical WD IDE 40GB hard drives. I want to install a mobile drive
rack and setup seperate operating systems (Windows XP Pro & XP Home) on each
of the identical hard drives. I want to configure each drive as a primary
drive. When the system is off, I want to be able to swap one drive for
another and then boot that drive's operating system. Can you boot a PC from
an IDE hard drive mounted in a mobile drive rack? I am running a PII 500mhz
CPU on a Gigabyte Mb with 512Mb's of SDRAM
