Removable Mobile HDD Rack - Problem

Hi Guys,
would appreciate some help with this problem. I have 3 HDD's, the first is
a W/Digital IDE HDD , which I have set to Master on IDE 1 ( Boot Drive), the
only drive on the IDE Cable, no slave. The two others are W/Digital SATA
Drives. What I wanted to do was to put the Boot IDE Drive on a removable
Rack, so that I could swap HDD's and use a different Operating systems
..
Ok, what I did was to put in a rack with the existing Boot IDE HDD in it,
left the jumper alone ( in the neutral Position W/Digital Instructions for
the JB edition), then switched the computer on and it went through the Post
OK then it would not boot from the drive, gave Disk Read Error Occurred....
I tried changing the jumper, checked the sequence in the Bios but still got
the same error.
Thanks guys I do appreciate your advice and help
Regards
Bob

IIRC, it is the removable rack that has to be jumpered properly
for Master/Slave status and not the hard drive. The rack defines
the setting for the hard drive that is being installed in it. IOW,
the motherboard is not reading or accepting the connection from
the rack.

Some racks say explicitly that they wont work with WD drives because
of the terminal stupidity that WD drives have with their jumpering with
a unique jumper config when its the only drive on a ribbon cable.

Hi Guys,
thanks for the replies, I think I will have to contact W/Digital, as the
are no jumpers on the rack and have tried various setting on the drive,
mikght try a second drive as a slave and see what happens
