Bootable Compact Flash

V

Victor Perry

Hello-

I am trying to create a bootable compact flash using a Lexar 12x 256MB
compact flash on a Ituner Network IDE card. I have been able to create an
active DOS partition using FDisk and I am able to format it as a Fat32. I
then use Bootprep. When I reboot the system I get a Disk Error. Is there a
way to test the compact flash to see if the MBR is being copied properly?

Thanks

Hi,Victor:
As I know, CF card only accept fat16 and NTFS for boot.
A CF card with Fat32 can not boot even if Bootprep have run on it.
Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

I am using SanDisk 1GB CF formatted with FAT32.
After FDISK (make sure the partition you created is set
as Active) format the CF with Win98se as system with
FORMAT from win98 prompt. If you cannot boot from it
after that run SYS C: from the prompt. Some CF cards may
not implement all the IDE functions.
Check if the system can boot from the CF into Win98
prompt. After it is successful run BOOTPREP. Than copy
you WinXpe image and boot.
Hope this helps.
