Nabz,

Here is what I've done to get a 2GB CF card to boot. Note that a few
things may be different as I don't have an IDE interface on my
development machine, but on the unit I have developing for.

1. Boot from the Floppy (I found that the Win98 one works
www.bootdisk.com or
http://www.troyedwards.com/downloads/BootDisks/boot98.exe) - You will
need to copy over bootprep to the floppy
2. Run FDISK
3. DO NOT enable LBA
4. Delete the Primary partition
5. Create a new Primary partition
6. Reboot
7. Boot from the Floppy
8. Format the C drive (format c:) (CF drive)
9. Run bootprep (Note: This will look like it freezes but it just
takes a while for the program to respond)
10. Power off the unit
11. Remove the CF Card
12. Place the CF Card into the PCMCIA Card Adapter
13. Insert into main computer with OS
14. Copy over the OS
15. Perform a safely remove hardware
16. Reinsert CF Card into Unit

Best of luck,

Dwayne

Hi Nabz,

Do you still get stuck at the verifying DMI pool data stage? Does
the bootprep complete successfully? Have you tried using a different
brand of CF or perhaps a 2GB? I'm using a SimpleTech 2GB CITCF2GBJ
card. The only other thing I can think of is that you may need to use
FAT 32 for a 4GB disk.
