Bootable cd problem

Guest

I created a bootable cd using Nero and when I restart with the cd in the
drive I get the following error:

starting caldera DR-DOS
EMM386 3.27 Copyright (c) 1992, 1998 Caldera inc. All Rights Reserved
EMM386 Warning: Address line A20 Already enabled

I have not been able to find anything in the kb on this issue.

Thanks.

DR-DOS is not a MS operating system, and has nothing with WinXP all the
more^ it is a DOS-like system.

Next, "Address line A20 Already enabled" message means that the other
expanded memory driver (say, QEMM) is installed already.

So what a bootable CD you did want to create? It is not a WinXP bootable
CD in any case.

You are simply burning the .iso file incorrectly as Nero does this NO
problem. Given your "novice" status I doubt you could even make use of XP 64
bit.

N.B. You also need a 64 bit processor.

Go to an MSDOS (or DR_DOS if you can find one) news group, yes they
still exist :) I don't remember the actual commands but there
definitely is a remedy. I think a parameter needs set on the EMM386 load
line in autoexec.bat, perhaps /NOEMS or something similar. But I used
DOS way too many years ago to remember for sure. Someone on one of the
DOS groups should be able to help you.

Thanks John. The problem is with the bios on my DFI board. Someone from that
group that has the 64 bit running was able to help me out.

Its an issue related to the version of the bios I am using on my DFI board
and yes, I have a 64 bit processor. Your comments are appreciated, you've
been a great help.. *sarcasm*

Nope. He's burning correctly. The below shows that. He's just burning
more dr-dos than he needs :)

Hi Henry,

I have the same problem as you did with emm386: warning; blah blah and have
not been able to rectify it. Could you please let me know which news group
you used so that I may rectify my problem or give me some clues. Thanks dude.

I use a standard Win98 boot diskette that uses MS-DOS files as my
"base" with a modified autoexec.bat file for bootable CDs using Nero
Express Ver 6.6, Caldera DOS is probably your problem.

This has nothing to do with Windows XP or even your computer. You should go
to the Nero web site to ask your questions on how to use "their" program to
make a bootable CD.
