Bootable CD error

Hello,
I am creating a bootable CD-ROM. I followed the steps exactly. I am at the point where I put the Pre-FBA CD into the CD-ROM, switch the BIOS to disable booting from CD-ROM first and to boot from hard drive.
I boot the target and I get:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Please reinstall the file

I tried recreateing the image several times with the Standard PC HAL too. I had no errors when createing the image?

ANY CLUES?

Gerry,

Is this your first time that you are trying to make XPe image?
If it is then try to check some basic things like:
ARC path in boot.ini
If ntoskrnl is in expected position.

Nothing else should be problem since this error is reported by ntldr.

Also make a quick read of articles found on following address.

Gerry,

Are you sure you want to copy "Pre-FBA" on to the CD?
Also check if when you copy the image to CD, you also copy proper boot.ini
that you tested the boot with.

According to his story he never reached FBA phase on his HDD.
So he don't have any El-Torito related problems, yet.

Oops.. I misread his post then.
Yes, you are right. His is yet to start the image first time to run FBA.
Then it is likely boot.ini ARC problem.

Thanks for keeping an eye on all the posts! :-)
