You need to replace NTLDR in your system files-C:\WINDOWS\. Check your BIOS to ensure you are booting 1st from the HDD. Remove any floppies during the boot or CDs/DVDs. If that doesn't apply you need to copy NTLDR off the install disk and place it in the system partition, otherwise you must reinstall.
When switching on I get a message NTLDR is missing. I then have to use the installation cd to initiate the bootup sequence. How do I fix this?
I have the same problem with NTLDR Missing. I have tried all the recovery options. Doing a Repair of XP, going in to Recovery console and reloading files, checking boot.ini, ran bootfix and fixmbr and still have same problem. I made a bootable diskette and if the diskette is in the floppy drive, the system will come up. When I take the diskette out, I get the NTLDR Missing message. I have copied all files from the diskette to the c drive, and no change

Yes, I have made HDD0 the first device in the list and got the same NTLDR missing message. Of course, if I make HDD0 the first in the list, I cannot use my floppy to get the system up.
