boot up problem

I have a compaq preario with an Amd K-6 processer. It has Win Xp home. When I
start it up it goes to a black screen with a flashing underscore. Can"t load
Windows. I just installed a new hard drive(40 gb). It worked fine for about a
day , then quit. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi,

If you are unable to perform a hardware diagnosis of the system after the
new hard disk, get it checked by a hardware specialist so that the cause can
be established. Mostly this kind of things happen due to mismatch of the
cabling etc.

Dont try anything extreme by yourself or else you will wreck the entire
system.
