boot trouble

I am running Windows XP Professional. Everything was running great until
today. When I turned the computer on, it went to a black screen with a "YOYO"
type of text with the curser flashing. When I try to enter text, nothing
happens. I tried to start in safe mode, but I am not able to. Please, any
help would greatly appreciated. Nailman
