although my computer isn't a very good one(900 mhz amd
duron cpu, 256 sdram, 40 gb 5400 rmp hdd), my boot time
is considerably slower than any of my friends' computers.
it takes anything form a minute and a half to two minutes
before windows xp is completely launched. someone
recommended using bootvis.exe to speed up my boot time,
but it's been taken off the microsoft site.
i don't really know what to do, because i've tried almost
everything to speed up the boot time, but it just hasn't
worked
if anyone has any ideeas, please mail me.

As Rich says, check for spyware, trojans, and viruses. You should
have a virus protector already. Also, get Spybot S&D and HijackThis.

Clean up and defrag your hard drive. Add memory (256M is not enough
for WindowsXP- 512M is just enough).
