Boot stops at mup.sys

Fresh xp home install. After downloading and installing
all Windows updates. I can't boot. Try safe mode, stops at
mup.sys everytime.
Any clue?

If you installed a WU driver, that is what I would suspect. At this
point, you have to try Last Known Good configuration. Press F8 madly
right after the BIOS finishes loading.
