Boot probs

Tried to update xp pro with vista beta, did'nt work.
Now when the pc boots it asks me which os I want to use xp or windows setup,
vista. I have tried to repair it by using the vista disk and by writting an
new boot.ini but have had no success. As vista has corrupted some of xp
files, is my only move to reinstall?
