Hello

I have recently bought a new PC running Vista Home premium.
Everything was running well until it crashed. Since the crash the PC
won't boot to the OS.

The OS gives two options the 1) Start Windows Normally 2) Lauch
Startup Repair. When I select either option the screen goes black and
nothing happens (no HDD activity)

If I try and boot from the supplied Home Vista disk the following
problem occurs

Trap 00068B2 =========exception==========

Normally in this situation I would reinstall but booting from the DVD
is not an option. Can anybody help?

Thanks

Gareth

Hi

When repeating the same steps gives you different outcomes, the
hardware becomes the prime suspect, in my experience. (A pure
software problem usually gives identical output for identical
input.) These days, hard drives are the usual weak link.

Also, why do you say that booting from the DVD is not an option?
That's an important detail.

Hi

When booting from the HD then nothing happens except a black screen.
When booting from the DVD it comes up with the exception.
