Boot Problem

Nothing special, I clicked a folder, and a error concerning Explorer.exe
needs to close, etc. popped up. Did not send a report, etc. But after that,
the PC didn't respond anymore, CTRL+ALT + DEL, no matter what. After
restarting the PC with the restart button at the front, the PC boots, but
the screen is black for a minute (after the XP logo) before I see the
Desktop. Loading the programs is also very slow..The same in Save Mode, only
a blinking cursor is added to the screen in the left upper corner. Is there
a way to speed up / repair the booting process again, or ..
