Boot problem

nach

HI one day my pc broke down, and after that i could boot it just goes to
windows the menu from windows with Failsafe

normal etc... and whatever i choose it just goes to dos screen with a
blinking cursor, and CTRl - ALT - Del doesnt

work anymore, and i have to hold the power button for 4 secs. The i tried a
windows xp cd, i loads and boots but

when the installation disc reaches about the Windows NT filesystem, AGAIN
dos screen with blinking cursor and pc is

crashed. I also tried a Windows server 2003 disc, boots to the point where
it says Windows is starting... And

nothing more... The i downloaded Ultimateboot cd from www.ultimatebootcd.com
and tried booting with that, i ran a

hdd test on surface, and it found a error about 4% in the drive, it
repaired. And i did some other test and after a

couple of attempts i got i to boot i was thrilled.. But then in windows i
took the chkdsk to get it to scan and

repair then windows had to reboot and after that same problem. Tried the
same thing with ultimatebootcd but didnt

work, then i formatted the drive, and did a surface/other test to the
hardisk from the ultimateboot cd/ and it

reports no errors from the hdd. When i try to install windows it does the
same, hangs after loading some

installation files. Really hope you somebody has a idea dont want to buy a
new laptop.

Find out what brand of hard drive it uses then run the appropriate
utility from a bootable CD or floppy. The UBCD may contain the correct
utility.
