boot problem

Hi, After connecting a new monitor to my pc It has began having boot up
problems well it actually tries to boot up but as soon as the windows program
starts to load up it goes back to booting up mode (black screen) this keeps
on going over and over and I am not able to even start pc on safe mode or
last known good configuration. I have tried to repair windows booting up
with xp cd but it does nothing . I have re-connected the old monitor but no
change with the problem, I do get a message that start up failed because of
new hardware or software... Do I have to format the hard drive and reinstall
windows? or is there other way of fixing this. I have windows xp home
edition. Please help and thank you in advance

You could try restoring to a date prior to the problem.
