my 2000 PC has 2 drives. The secondary drive was replaced with a drive from a
win98 PC that was having problems (I'm trying to get to the data). When I
rebooted after replacing the drive, win2000 did some kind of install (just
said "please wait while windows updates..."). Now when I reboot, I get press
'ctrl/alt/del', I enter my ID and password - the PC after 30-45 seconds goes
back to the "press ctrl/alt/del" prompt. I put the original secondary drive
back in, but still no change.
Any ideas what Windows did to me and how to fix it?

This article may help.
