Win 2k login looping???

I added a second hard drive to a Windows 2000 machine. Machine booted up
fine & recognized the new drive, and asked to reboot the system. Upon
reboot, I entered my login information, and it starts to log in - then
suddenly, it returns to the CTRL+ALT+DEL window! After trying a few times, I
decided to shut down and remove the 2nd drive. After that, it does the SAME
THING, EXCEPT now it displays an error: "Limited virtual memory - your
system has no paging file, or the paging file is too small... (along with
info on how to fix it)" before returning to the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen. I have
tried logging in over the network and as the local admin. (note: It does
authenticate me, because if I enter the wrong password it tells me so). No
matter what I do, I keep returning to the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen!!

I tried putting the 2nd drive back in, and now it won't even boot when it's
attached - screen just turns black after initial system info with no hard
drive activity! So, I removed it again and at least can get back to the
login screen without it.

Any thoughts greatly appreciate. I did find an MS article on a couple ways
to resolve the Limited Virtual Memory problem using the recovery console and
registry - but I would like to know more about this login looping problem
before I start messing with the registry.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! Thanks

Update: In another group I found out that the login looping issue can be the
result of incorrect drive mappings - so I went ahead and followed Microsoft
article 812448 (which replaces the mounted devices settings with earlier
ones) and voila it fixed both problems at the same time! sbgmd
