i have used a bios cleanup prog and my computer wont
boot. I need to reinstall win xp pro but I bought an
upgrade disk not the full version. How do I boot from
this disk and reinstall windows?? Thanks

A BIOS cleanup program? BIOSes don't need to be cleaned.

Windows XP and your BIOS are two different things. Windows cannot repair a
problem with your BIOS. If your BIOS is corrupt, what you need to do is to
download the most recent BIOS from your computer manufacturer's web site and
install it. The manufacturer will provide complete directions, which you
should follow to the letter. If your computer still won't boot with a fresh
BIOS, something else is causing the problem.

How is he going to do a BIOS restore, assuming that is what he actually
means, if the pc will not boot?.. the only way to recover from a dead BIOS
is either change the BIOS chip (older boards had removable EPROMS), or
change the board..

Far more likely that he has cleaned the registry, possibly even emptied it..
