Boot Fail From CD ROM

dear friends,
I have lost my recovery discs, and ordered for the new one.
Prior to this, my system never boots from a window xp bootable CD.I replaced
my previous hard drive due to bad sectors and tried from USB boot but it was
very slow/ Now when I get back my recovery discs, how will they boot, if CD
ROM is not known to the system hardware. New hard drive needs to be re-image
as receovery discs.

Please help me in this regard.

thx

A computer will not boot from a CD or DVD unless you have gone to the
BIOS and set that device to be first in the boot order. Have you done
that?
