If your Operating System is on the C: drive which has somehow changed to
the D: drive then go to
Control Panel>AdminTools>Computer Management>Disk Management. Rt click
on the D: and select
change drive letter.

It won't let you. But in a case like this where an existing setup has
changed letter, it can probably be put back as it was by running
regedit.exe, opening the left pane to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\MountedDevices
and in the right pane double clicking \DosDevices\D: and very carefully
changing the D to C
Then close and reboot.
That does *not* apply if a new setup after a format has resulted in
letter D though.
