Boot delay and symantec

M

Margot

When I boot up my computer I have a long delay of about a
minute or two until I can work on the computer. The
problem seems to be with symantec's system works and its
antivirus programme that I have installed. I have been
dealing with symantec for the past 5 months and they have
given me many suggestions which have not worked and now
they say it is a microsoft windows xp problem.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what may be the
conflict between my windows xp and norton system works??

I have tried just loading system works with xp, disabling
all my other startup programs. The conflict is just with
system works and windows xp. Everything else works fine.

Thanks!!

Norton SystemWorks is a huge application that, when installed with all its
options turned on, requires a great deal of CPU time, so you should not at
all be surprised that it's slowing your performance. Norton Antivirus is the
most important part of SystemWorks. Are you really sure that you need the
rest?

I am having the same problem. I just installed Nortons
System works this week and my computer is extreeeeeeemely
slow.

Should I uninstall certain features? or would installing
more memory solve the problem?

To ask a new question, please start a new thread.

Which parts of Norton SystemWorks to keep and which to remove is a matter of
opinion. This is mine: The only thing you need is Norton Antivirus.
Uninstall the rest.

That said, it is widely held that you should not use Norton System Doctor.
It is a large drain on your system which accomplishes nothing for most
users.

If you intend to uninstall any part of Norton SystemWorks you must carefully
follow the instructions provided in Symantec's knowledge base.
