Boot Delay problem

Howard Lee

Hi, i'm having a problem with boot delay...I see the bar
passes like 2-3 times and boots into the Welcome screen
but it stays there for about 1 minute and then goes into
windows. I used bootvis and noticed that throughout that
whole time while it was in the Welcome screen it showed
network delay. I've never had a problem with this until
now, what should I do? thx.

If Ted's suggestions do not resolve your problem try Event Viewer
checking the sequence of Events for errors an delays.
Make an exact note of the precise text of any error message. Minor
discrepancies can
make it harder to search for information about the error message.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer.
When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click
for further information and you can copy using copy and paste.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the
error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two
pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your
message
(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the
Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make
sure this is
the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hi Fellows,
Interested in the thread comments re Boot Up, however I have had too many
problems since installing Bootvis. I thought I had cleared this programme
from my system, but no such luck. Can anyone please help by spelling out
precisely how to uninstall. step by step would be greatly appreciated.

It's been years since I've used BootVis but I do remember that you had to
turn off monitoring/logging before uninstalling it. If you forget, the log
continues to grow after removing the program and with no size limits!

If I remember correctly, uninstalling was simply a matter of deleting the
program folders and files. Delete the log file too.

Hopefully someone who's used it more recently will chime in here and make
additions if I missed something.
