Bold type is blurry at small sizes

In Word and other applications with XP Home the onscreen
type is blurry if it is bold and the display size is set
to 100% or less. It is OK when printed or when I choose
150% or so.

If this is a CRT display, go to Display - Appearance - Effects and in
Font smoothing choose Standard rather than Clear type. Cleartype works
only with LCD displays (where there is a 'triad' of color dots which are
arranged the same for each pixel) and often makes things look bad on
CRTs
