My monitor just went bad and I purchased a new LCD monitor
and I have installed the new drivers for the monitor. My
icons and some of the letters are blurred. Even in word
documents they are blurred. I called the monitor
manufacturer and he told me it was not the monitor causing
the problem but the software. What is your guess on what
is causing this problem and how do I correct this problem.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

the software that worked perfectly fine until you hooked
up the new monitor.

think about the lack of logic in that statement and call
the monitor manufacturer and talk to someone who actually
know what they are doing.

Check the spec sheet for your new LCD, look for the default
number of pixel resolution and set that number in your
display properties. Also, there are other settings for
Clear Type which apply to LCDs.

up the new monitor.

Not always logical to say that! I had a printer that worked perfectly for
years on W98. When I went to XP it printed too faintly to be able to use.

Virgil, go to the Display Properties applet in Control Panel and look
for a button on one of the tabs called "Effects". You will see two
choices for text display: Clear Text and Standard. Experiment with each
setting to see which looks better to you. Clear Text was designed for
lcd monitors, but some lcd's actually look better with Standard. Also
make sure your resolution is set correctly for your monitor; i.e., 1280
x 1024 or whatever your monitor's native resolution is supposed to be.
Look in its manual.

First you need to make sure that you run the monitor's own autosetup
(see its manual) when running windows. And run at the monitor's own
native resolution - usually 1024x768 for a 15 inch one, 1280x1024 for
bigger ones. LCD monitors do not give good results when there is not a
proper one-one relation between their dot groups and pixels of the
display.

Then in Display - Appearance click Effects and choose 'smooth edges of
screen fonts' to use ClearType
