blurred graphics

Where is it that you set the way you want to view graphics. Mine have become
blurry and I wanted to check how they are set.

first you need to put your glasses on...or move your head back and forth...

The best way to check it is to borrow a friends monitor and connect it.
Now see if it is still blurred. If it is, it is your graphics (video) card.
If
not, then you need a new monitor.

Is it a CRT or LCD monitor? If CRT there is a focus knob on the HV
transformer. But, if you are not familiar with high voltage units, stay away
from it.

Almost certainly a hardware question, in which case another newsgroup would
be a better choice.

Additional information needed.
What kind of monitor - flat panel or CRT?
Any changes made to hardware or operating system before the problem
occurred?

Things to consider:
Bad cable or connector
Failing monitor
Resolution set too high for CRT or too low for flat panel.

But to answer your question "Where is it that you set the way you want to
view graphics?"
Right click on an empty spot on the desktop
Click on the 'Settings' TAB
Try changing the 'Resolution' and/or the 'Color Quality'
Click on 'Advanced'
Click on the 'Monitor' TAB
Try changing the 'Screen Refresh Rate'
Click on the 'General' TAB
Try changing the 'DPI Setting' (larger or smaller
characters)

Write down the current setting BEFORE making any changes. Don't expect any
of these changes to help the problem. Since you didn't understand where the
make these changes, you probably should get someone more knowledgeable to
help at your location.

Hi, if its not a hardware issue, the settings for the monitor are- right
click on desktop then properties then settings. A software problem like the
drivers can make the screen seem a little blurry so try updating them by
right clicking my computer icon, select manage, device manager, select the
display and right click then update driver. if you cant see the screen well
enough to do this, then try this> when the computer boots keep tapping F8 (
on most computers ) and load into safe mode, which loads basic screen and
other drivers so you can access computer and change the settings then. then
re-boot. hope this is ok, Matt320

There's no focus option in the Windows display settings so the 2 things I'd
look at first are:
1- If using an LCD monitor check the Windows resolution setting -- set it
to the optimum resoluton of the monitor. Anything less will give inferior
display quality, including possible bluriness.

2- If using a CRT monitor look for a user adjustable Focus control on it
(could be done electronically in firmware or by a knob/wheel on the
monitor). Compare the display sharpness when using a different CRT monitor.
Have the monitor repaired/replaced if no user adjustment is available or if
you can't get a sharp image using the available adjustment range. If you're
not a tech, don't play around inside a CRT monitor, there are dangerous
voltages in there even when unplugged from the AC.
