For a couplke of days now my system has kept crashing. The first message was;
STOP : 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8EA8E221, 0x8B7BF9F4, 0x8B7BF6F0)
USBPORT.SYS - Address 8EA8E221 base at 8EA8B000, DateStamp 4549b26d.
The next;
STOP : 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8D2D6221, 0x8B7B79F4, 0x8B7B76F0)
USBPORT.SYS - Address 8D2D6221 base at 8D2D3000, DateStamp 4549b26d.
There are a couple of other messages, some info slightly different but the
first set remain constant ie 0x0000007E and the USBPORT.SYS.
I hope from this information someone can offer their assistance.

My thanks to Mark L. Ferguson, I have updated the USB root hubs but perhaps
you could clarify something for this complete novice, you said 'Uninstall'
and then 'Scan for Hardware Changes' but is it left at that or does the USB
Root Hubs need to be reinstalled and if so, where from? It may appear a
stupid question but thats me, thick?

The scan took care of that. If you still get the 0x7E error, you can try
SFC.

Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop

Thanks for the clarification Mark, I will do the sfc scan. All last night,no
problems, earlier this morning, no problems but then while on the net I went
to open an email from windows live and yes the system crashed, although this
has not happened up to now this afternoon?
