blue screen with 0x00000024 stop code

after downloading and installing Tuesdays updates. I woke to a blue screen
with a stop error code 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8B319E48, 0xC0000102).
The computer, Dell Dimension 9100 running XP pro SP3, will not boot into
safe mode for debugging purposes.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatfully received.
