blue screen when listen to midi- swmidi.sys problem

My computer has been fine for several years. A few days ago I foun
that whenever I open a midi file, the computer hangs with a blue scree
saying "page fault in nonpaged area" with a problem with swmidi.sys.
haven't made any hardware/software/driver changes recently.

Should I disable/reinstall the midi driver (how to?) ? Or should I tr
something else
 
I've tried overwritting swmidi.sys with the one from the installatio
CD, but the problem continues. >

Can anyone teach me how to install another midi driver (other than th
microsoft wavetable thingy)
