Blue Screen Of Death Messages

I have two problems which have occured on seperate machines. On my machine I am suffering from crashes whenever fairly demanding actions are being performed (compressing batches of files etc) - these are the messages that are appearing

Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area (specifically referencing 'ntoskrnl.exe'



IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equa

I'm told that bad RAM is usually the culprit but I've tried two seperate strips of RAM bought from different sources and both less than 3 months old. I've since formatted my hard disk and installed Linux and the problems seem to have stopped but I need to get windows back on my system as soon as possible (every time I repair or reinstall the same problem has been occuring

The second problem is on a friends machine and seems to be similar only the messages are

Out_Of_Scan_Rang



RDBSS.Sys the driver mistakenly marked a por

The system is difficult to diagnose as all components are brand new so if it's down to hardware I'm not sure where to start

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have since taken my machine to the computer shop to have it tested and apparently all components are fine except for the hard disk which is completely knackered. So if anyone else has the same problem it may be your HD and not RAM which is causing it - hope this is helpful.
