Blue Screen Error Message

I have a computer running WinXP Home where I just installed a patch from my
cable ISP. Upon rebooting I get the blue screen of death with the error
message.

C00021A
Fatal System Error
0x00000080
(0x00000000 0x00000000)

Does this specific error mean anything? Is there any way to restore the
bootability of the system?
