My computer has started to radomly reboot itself. Recently it shut down with
a blue screen and the error code "0x00000402 (0x00000000/0x00000000)". Virus
checks (Norton 2006) come up negative. I have done a microsoft.com search
and a google search forthis code, with only a hit about access rights which
did not seem helpful. Does anyone know what causes these random reboots? Or
the nature of the error code?

Hi,

Is a dump file created? We might be able to use it to pinpoint exactly what
is wrong.

I have received blue screen error messages before, which took up the whole
screen and told me a dump file was created. This one did not. How do I find
out for sure?

The other blue screens were due to bad memory, which I found out using a
microsoft memory checking utility (though I have misplaced the floppy and
don't remember the program name). Could this be related even though it is a
different error message? I replaced those RAM modules with new ones about 6
months ago.
