OK, have a problem. Friends computer has something wrong with it, it reboots
even in safe mood before it can load XP. I can see the BSoD for about 1 sec.
, then it disappears. I can't get to the control panel since it won't boot,
so what can I do?

Restart the computer and hit the F8 key as if you want to go into Safe Mode.
When the Windows Advanced Options Menu appears, use the arrow keys to select
Disable automatic restart on system failure. Hopefully, this will make the blue
screen stay viewable so you can record the information.

Good luck

my opt. on F8 are:

safe mode
SM w/ network
SM w/ command prompt

Enable boot logging
VGA mode
LKGC
Directory services restore mode
debugging mode

Start Windows normally
Reboot
return to OS choices menu

Right screen?

You're at the right screen. Something tells me your friend doesn't have Service
Pack 2 installed on that computer. Here's what the screen looks like with SP2
installed.

That reduces your options of seeing what's on the blue screen down to using a
digital camera to capture the image.

Moving on, if all the important files on that computer have been backed up, you
might want to try running a repair installation. Take a look here for more info.

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional (Pro) Repair Install step by step

If there are any important files on that computer that haven't been backed up,
make that your first priority. There are ways of retrieving files from a
computer that won't boot. It won't be easy, but it can be done. Post back if you
need some guidelines on that issue.

Good luck

OK, so why are you attempting to fix your friend's computer? Did you
"break" it?

That's what friends are for Bear!
