blocking using the internet

is there a way i can block my users from accessing the
internet from the server like some group policy etc.
please advice. we using windows 2000 server and all our
workstations run on win2k prof.

You should implement this on a network security level (in router
configuration), not an application level. Talk to your network engineer and
have them block all outgoing traffic. This has essentially the same effect
as unplugging your network from the internet. There are just too many ways
to circumvent application-level security if you want such complete blockage.

Howdy,

While \\MadDHatteR is absolutley correct, here is the way
that you can do this via GPO ( since this is the GPO NG ):

Create an OU, put the acounts that you do not want to have
Internet access in this OU, create a GPO applied to that
OU in which both a fake proxy address is given and you
disallow the users from changing it.

To create a fake proxy, if your network is on a
192.168.15.x subnet, simply use 172.16.15.1 as the Proxy
Address. In fact, use that for everyone...
