Well... There we go Microsoft. Every new OS release is a desapointment, one
step further from what genuine computering showld be. They are suppose to
make your computer experience easier and faster, but on the contrary, it just
make it harder and confusing. Vista and IE7 is the newest exemple of how
dependable we have been made. I miss the DOS days. Yesterday I tried to run
an activex on my computer but keep prompt not run it. I had to change
settings 10 times before it allowed me to use it. How fast and easy is it?
The system keeps blocking every action, we are no longer the runner of the
machine, the machine is running us. God forbids you need tech support. The
new techs reads you their troubleshooting manual *we already did everything
on the book because we know more*, just to tell you in the end to erase you
HD and reinstall de OS. It seems that the less we know, more profitable it is.

Although vista has problems.. you can expand your own knowledge and
counteract the problems...

If you don't like active-X you can use firefox

What are you talking about? If it is just a rant, say so. Otherwise post a
problem that can be solved. You might also press the F1 key. Since you claim
to have been around since the DOS days, you should be able to search the
Help function. BTW—the F1 key has never broken anything.

I'm with you on this. My Vista Home is terrible, I can't install anything
and when I get around it, I keep getting errors.

My XP was great.

So far my Vista experience is terrible. Besides there's no software support
as it is for XP.

I don't think you are just ranting as the other guy said, I know how
frustrating it can be. My internet connection in like a dial up when it's
lighting fast on my other XP system.

I'm thinking about going back to XP.

Good luck!

He's telling you the problem: multiple security prompts, access blocking to
every action, no software support from major companies (ATT/yahoo
anitvirus, Kodak, quicktime...) support and I add slow networking
connection.

Do you have a solution for that, other than going back to XP?

I didn't think so, but if you do, please tell us where is the magic patch.

And FYI, this might actually be consider whatever you want to call it from
a frustated user:

Depends, did you read the IE help topic "What should I do when Internet
Explorer blocks the installation of an ActiveX control?"
Or just tick boxes in 10 different combinations until something worked?
Was the ActiveX control signed?
Did you read the prompt or just dismiss it as an annoyance?

Darling, I don't want to buy a computer and have to search for help every
time I press a buttom. I, at least have some acknowledgment to go around and
fix problems, just feel sorry for the ones whom have no ideia about what
regedit means. Besides that, if every consumer keeps quiet, what kind of
product can we expect in the future?

Thanks for your post! I was thinking about going back to W98. But when u get
there, all the programs doesn't run as they should, u have no teck help
whatsoever, and if you complain, it is your fault to try things the old
fashion way.

Jay, followed every step, the thing has a mind of it's own. It is just like a
spoilled child that does not obey.
Now, when I attempt to open secpol.msc... it says that it does not exist.
QUA.. please ask me if I've tried as an administrator.

What OS delivers "what genuine computering (sic) should be."? Windows 98?
Uh, no?

Some folks need protection from their own actions. If you don't like UAC,
you can disable it. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is possible.

Yes, no doubt Vista's UI is way different than XP's, or 98's. I've been
using Vista for months and I'm still learning stuff. Fact is, I'm still
learning stuff on XP. I run XP, Vista, Ubuntu, and Solaris here. Each has
its challenges.

Secpol.msc is not present in all versions of Vista, only in Business,
Enterprise and Ultimate. Here is a link where you can search on features to
see what version(s) of Vista it's in:
