Problem with WP X3 and Vista and Outlook 2007

Hi! We have a peculiar problem here. We have Word Perfect X3 (all the latest
patches installed) running on two Vista machines which also have Outlook
2007 installed as part of the MS Office 2007 Regular. The MS software
and OS also have all their patches installed.

The problem is if Outlook is running WP X3 loads just fine. But if you
attempt to open or close a document Word Perfect crashes. Not each
and every time but at least half of the time. Word Perfect X3 runs just
fine as long as Outlook 2007 is not running. You can get a crash to
happen every time if you attempt to load multiple documents
simultaneously. X3 will sometimes work if only one document is
open with Outlook running.. It does this on both machines so the
problem is likely universal.

When running on Windows XP Pro this did not happen so it seems
to be associated with Vista.

I put a question into Corel's tech support, but the the suggestions they
gave strongly suggests that they do not know what the answer is.

You may need to escalate with Corel or it may be useful to post in their
newsgroup:
cnews.corel.com

You might also want to post in one of the Outlook newsgroups because
lots of people use Word Perfect and Outlook. This may be something the
Outlook gurus have seen.

Here's the Outlook general group: microsoft.public.outlook.general

And here's a list of all the MS public newsgroups in case there is a
more specific Outlook group that would fit the problem better:

Thanks for the reply. I have already put in a further update with
Corel and put the same question on their newsgroup.

I will be putting this same question to the Outlook group.

Thanks again!

This one drives me crazy. While I've learned to save constantly, I
still lose stuff in WP because of this crashing problem. I use WP all
the time, and like Outlook because I can copy/paste address information
from Contacts for some special projects that require that rather than a
merge. If I could do that in Mozilla Thunderbird, I would never use
Outlook again.

If someone gets a solution, please post it with loud bells and
whistles.

What is "WP X3"?

Sorry, I guess the thread didn't really say. WP X3 is the latest
version of Word Perfect. Those of us who use it usually prefer it over
MS Word, but it appears that Vista doesn't like it... it keeps trying to
turn it off.
Actually X4 is the latest version of WP and it works just fine on Vista.
The Outlook/WP glitch however, is still there.
I think Corel needs to address it, not MS.

There's not many folks using WP, especially if they have MS Office.
We used WP at work, but we were moving to MS Office when I retired 18 months
ago.
However, I had loaded the X3 trial earlier this year, and don't remember
having any problems with it.
I'll try it again to see if I have any problems.

Sorry, I'm assuming it is Vista, because WP works fine in XP and fine
with Outlook 2003. No one over in the WP newsgroups has said anything
about it, at least that I can find. I'm a newbie using these groups and
am discouraged because I can't seem to find anyone who knows what is the
matter or how to fix it.

From what I can gather you should upgrade to x4 for Vista but I am only
doing casual reading about it to see what you can do. Can you upgrade to
x4?

Upgrading to x4 may not fix the problem. This is what makes me think
so... I installed Mozilla Thunderbird to use instead of Outlook (it's
okay but limited) and no longer have the problem with WP crashing like
it did when Outlook was open, but get this: now MS Word crashes when
Thunderbird is open!

You obviously have more problems than WordPerfect OR Word. Your Vista
setup is seriously messed up, and I'd bet it didn't come that way out
of the box.
Is Vista so designed to integrate all the MS software and just acts up
if a user doesn't fall into line? LOL I'm beginning to wonder.

That's a moronic statement... are you a moron?
